Character of the Week: Olis - The Tightrope Walk between Personal Ambition and Volatile Talent

Fourth child of eight in a dirt poor, unwinged, common family.  He came from humble beginnings that could never, ever satisfy such an innovator.  Fortunately he's used to making the best out of a tough situation.

From an early age he was saddled with the thankless task of keeping his twin sister Uli out of trouble.  After realizing this was impossible, he determined to make her talents into their ticket to the rest of the world.

Olis is clever and likeable - both by nature and necessity as he has to constantly work at balancing his talented sister's brash and abrasive personality, rebuilding bridges she heedlessly burns.  This became especially important once he determined they should turn her acrobatic performances into a business.

Taking their show on the road Olis added the even larger challenge of marketing.  His twin is of no help here, so he relies on his childhood best friend Sephon and the other people that are drawn in along the way.

The question is will living such a tough, hand to mouth existence, with Uli seeming to sabotage his every effort end in Stardom or Sororicide???

Character of the Week: Uli - Firecrackers, Spice and Absolutely Nothing Nice

Third child of eight in a poor, common family.  Born in a small, insignificant town near Opaline, Uli is country through and through, but that doesn't keep her grounded.  She's brash, loud and fearless, and has her mind set on getting the attention of all Tierrine - then the world!

Daughter of a handyman and a laundress, Uli's parents tried to convince her to be practical and learn a more marketable skill - like her oldest brother, the town cobbler's apprentice.  However, Uli can't sit still long, and once something ceases to challenge her, she'll have none of it.  So Uli takes her Acrobatic Acts of Daring on the road - and drags her twin and his best friend along for the ride.

Perhaps if the twins can stop fighting for 5 minutes they'll find a way to live the life they want.

Youngest child in a family filled with military fame, General Diamond was pushed to follow this path from birth, but try as he might, he could never measure up to his perfect older sister.  He gained fame when he defeated Caliphus the Jaguar during the Muchovan invasion - in the same battle that took his sister's life.

With this accomplishment, it seemed only natural to the powers that be that Diamond take his sister's spot on the Elite City Guard, however her peers saw him as an opportunist and never fully accepted him.  He excelled in the Guard despite this and at 18 he became the youngest General ever appointed.  Now he strives to lead his hostile peers and keep order in the capital city of Paonia while order crumbles under the stress and suspicion that still resonates from the Invasion two years ago.

He was nicknamed Diamond for his hardness, but will he hold up with his every move being criticized?  Will he ever find the traitor that let Muchovan into the Kingdom and finally give D-City the peace of mind it so desperately needs?

There's no doubt he's a physical force to be reckoned with and both bright and skilled - but does he have the heart necessary to win over his Boofon peers?

Born in a small island on bad terms with the central government of Paonia, Kamino grew up in a tumultuous environment.  On a personal level, she lost her mother as a toddler, had a strained relationship with her father, and struggled to fit in as a half-blood Oceanian.  Not surprisingly, Kamino ran away from home as a pre-teen, and has pretty much been running ever since.

 

She's seen most of Paonia training in war and subterfuge under several esteemed personages, but was eventually branded a traitor - falsely, or so Kamino claims.  She escaped arrest and certain death by fleeing the Kingdom.

Still, Kamino hasn't severed all ties to her homeland, and when she hears of trouble brewing, she heads right back.  She may have been forced to leave previously, tail between legs, but now she's years wiser and ready to take care of unfinished business.

Is it to find the real traitor or finish the job?

Don't be fooled by her small stature - she's quick, smart and with spunk to spare, she's truly a force to be reckoned with.
